 About the Author

While on an official tour in Madhya Pradesh, I had to stay back in a village called ‘Goh Paru’ for more than a week due to the sudden flooding of Sone River. As there was no other way to kill time, I started writing. That was how my serial articles by name ‘Narmadayude Nattil’ commenced. Writing of notes from memory on the model of a travelogue continued, and it is now acquiring the shape of a book. Most of these notes had been published as articles in Malayala Manorama weekly. I used to get many messages appreciating the articles when they were published. Once, while on an official tour and on another occasion along with Sri. S. K. Pottekkat, I had visited Khajuraho. Though a bit away from the shores of Narmada, I had included a description of those visits as well a visit to the famous Buddhist centre Sanchi in this book titled, ‘In the Land of Narmada’. Had they not been there, the title of the book, perhaps, could have been ‘On the Shores of Narmada’. I have received financial aid from the Kerala Government for publishing this book. Let me take this as an opportunity to express my gratitude to the Kerala Government for the aid, to Malayala Manorama for publishing my articles, to my distinguished friend, a renowned Malayalam author and a travelogue writer in particular, Sri. S. K. Pottekkat, for introducing this book before the esteemed readers and to the Sahitya Pravarthaka Sahakarana Sangham for having taken up all the matters related to printing and publishing of this book.
